First Light is the first piece in my debut collection, Where Joy Blooms.
Inspired by the quiet beauty of pretty roses and new beginnings, this piece celebrates the simple joy that flowers can bring to everyday life.
The painting invites you to pause, smile, and enjoy a little breath of calm all year round. Whether displayed on its own or alongside other pieces from the collection, my hope is that it brings warmth, colour, and quiet joy to your home.
The piece comes signed and titled by hand, with a certificate of authenticity, and mounted.

First Light is a contemporary and colourful original ink and watercolour painting. Part of the Where Joy Blooms collection – featuring seven original floral paintings, inspired by colour, nature, and the simple joys we find day to day.
Created using loose, expressive layers of paint, the collection celebrates the flowers, colours, and moments that make us pause and smile – reminding us of happy memories, cherished loved ones, and the beauty that surrounds us.
First Light has a soft and gentle colour palette of pinks, peaches, and greens, with background accents of peaches and pinks. The piece feels joyful but stylish.
Hand-drawn and hand-painted using pigment-ink fine-liner pens and professional watercolour paints on 300gsm acid-free watercolour paper (which is off-white and has a slightly textured surface). The paper is approximately A5 size (including a white border around the piece of approximately 1cm). The painted area is approximately 12.5cm x 19cm.
The piece comes mounted and backed (but unframed) in a smooth off-white 20cm x 25cm mount.
I will sign and title the piece by hand, both on the paper (in the white border) and on the mount. You will also receive a certificate of authenticity to prove it is a genuine original.
As First Light is an original watercolour painting, it is unique. However, there may be a limited or open edition of prints available of the same artwork and name, at a later date.
Any photos showing the piece framed are ‘mock-ups’, and therefore just a suggestion of how the piece might look framed and on a wall. Sizing in relation to other objects is estimated. Any mounts shown are just examples and not the exact mount you will receive (the colour and size may be slightly different, so please read the mount information above for details). It’s also important to note, mount colours can vary slightly between batches.
Though I have done my best to show a true representation of the artwork’s colour, please allow for some differences between what you see on screen compared to in person.
As this is an original watercolour painting, there may be some paint marks that have bled into the border and some tiny holes along the outer-edge of the paper (where it was stapled in place during creation), but these will all be hidden by the mount. The paper may also be slightly warped in places – this is simply due to the painting technique, and part of an original painting’s charm.
