Creating joyful, contemporary watercolour and textile art that’s environmentally friendly is really important to me. All of my Originals, Giclée Prints, Posters, and Textile Art pieces, are intended to last many years (or even decades, if kept in the right conditions). My hope is that they aren’t ‘throw away’ products destined for landfill, but treasured pieces that will be loved and looked after, perhaps even handed down to future generations.
Of course, there are always ways to improve when it comes to sustainability (and I will continue learning and implementing new ideas over time). However, here are some of the ways I try to reduce my business’s impact on the planet:
As an artist, inevitably, some paintings don’t go to plan. Instead of throwing away ‘bad’ artwork, I try to find ways to use the paper to its fullest. Often using the back of failed pieces to test new colour palettes or try new techniques.
I only work with a few trusted printing companies to create my Fine-Art Giclée Prints, Posters, and Textile Art. They are all environmentally responsible, making a conscious effort to reduce their impact on the planet. They are all based in the UK, and all of my printed items are printed here in the UK.
My Originals are painted on acid-free FSC certified paper, made in the UK.
My Giclée Prints are printed on acid-free, lignin-free, 100% cotton, archival paper. The paper manufacturer prides itself on only using renewable electricity in production, and having produced vegan friendly papers since 1965.
My Posters are printed on sustainably sourced paper, and printed using vegetable-based inks.
My Textile Art pieces are created on cotton-linen fabric, which are natural fibres rather than synthetic. If they include printed artwork, they are printed using environmentally responsible water-based pigment inks.
I’m really happy to say, I send all of my artwork to you using plastic-free, environmentally friendly packaging. Even my postage ‘tubes’ are plastic free because they’re triangular and don’t need plastic end caps.
Wherever possible, I would love you to reuse or recycle my packaging.
