Chocolate and Hazelnut Cake

Chocolate & Hazelnut Cake recipe for Creative Project blog by Kerri Awosile, UK - cake slice

With fun festivities just around the corner, I felt another urge to share a creative project with you. This time it’s the yummy type! Though I said goodbye to creating wedding cakes (my first business) at the beginning of this year – I still enjoy baking, and thought I would let you in on my own Chocolate and Hazelnut Cake recipe. It took me a couple of hours to make and bake, then a further hour or so to decorate the following day. Whether serving it for Christmas tea, a New Year’s Eve celebration, or even a winter birthday – it will hit the spot. It’s rich, indulgent, very celebratory…and ooh so naughty but nice! Let’s get started…

‘The Stars Are Brightly Shining’ DIY Christmas Decoration Tutorial

The stars are brightly shining DIY Christmas decoration tutorial on Kerri Awosile's blog

My husband and I have been together nearly eleven years, but for some reason we haven’t accumulated many Christmas decorations. This is our second Christmas as a married couple, and I’ve decided it’s time we had some more Christmas bits to make our home feel festive. I will probably get tempted to buy things, but I also wanted to do something creative and make a decoration myself. I get to work with inspiring and creative women in my business, and on some amazing projects that bring me a lot of fulfilment…but from sometimes it’s nice (important, even) to remind myself what it’s like to create something just for the sake of joy alone. So, today I want to share a little creative project I made this week. I’ve also created a tutorial, so you too can make a DIY Christmas decoration with hand-painted ‘the stars are brightly shining’ text.

It was quite simple to create, and I’ve even included a free download template* so you can paint the same text design yourself. After all, if I can live a more creative, light, and fulfilled life – then why can’t you?

Inspirational Quotes in Watercolour

I have too many passions to be put in one box PDF downloadable inspirational quote by Kerri Awosile in green and framed

Have you ever looked at a blank wall in your home or office and thought ‘you need some inspiration’? Well – that’s exactly what I did the other day. I was looking at the blank white walls of my studio/office and decided it would be nice to add some creativity and colour in the form of inspirational quotes. I quickly thought it would be a lovely project to cover in a blog post and then (quite excitedly) realised I could even add the finished designs to my shop as digital downloads so you can print them out and add some inspirational quotes to your own wall too!

Creating May’s Light Letter Greeting Card

Creative light bulb artwork on greeting card by Kerri Awosile for May's Light Letter

Hello, it’s time for another Creative Project post. This time I’ve not written a step by step guide but instead wanted to share a bit about the process behind creating May’s Light Letter greeting card in the hope it inspires you to do something creative too – something you really enjoy.

The Inspiration

I created a vision board at the end of last year (2018) for what I wanted to achieve in the next twelve to eighteen months. I used an image to represent each goal/dream and then printed out the board to stick on my wall – so I would see it every day. High on the priorities list was starting a new business all about creativity, inspiration, and light.

I love that board. I look at it regularly to remind myself where I am heading, and as I start to fulfil some of the goals it’s really exciting to see what else I can look forward to making a reality.

Easter Marshmallow Crispies

Kerri Awosile Easter Marshmallow Crispies Recipe Creative Mini Chocolate Eggs Blueberries White Pink Fun Family Child Friendly Baking Easy Squares

These Easter Marshmallow Crispies were so incredibly easy to make. They were also incredibly sticky to make, but easy non the less! There are just six items for the shopping list (five if you just want one variety), and you can mix up a batch within minutes.

I want this blog space to be somewhere inspiring, full of interesting articles and fun posts. For that reason I plan on regularly sharing creative projects with you. Some will be step by steps that you can follow, while others might be a more general overview of a project I’ve created with the hope it inspires you to do something creative too.

With Easter celebrations just a couple of days away I thought it was a great excuse to start with an edible creative project, and to make it even more fun I chose a recipe my little niece and mum could help with too. Three generations all together.
